ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Bachelor's course in Electronics & Communication Engineering was first started in 1981-82, initially in the Electrical Engineering Department. In 1994, the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering came into existence as a separate entity. Its undergraduate & postgraduate programmes constitute approximately 20% students strength of the Institute, thus giving it the status of one of the largest Department of the Institute. The Master’s degree programme was started in 1992-93. Currently Master’s programme offers two specialization streams- (i) VLSI and (ii) Communication. Since 1996, part time scheme in these postgraduate specializations is also being offered. The UG and PG programmes in Communication Engineering are accreditated by the National Board of Accrediatation. The Department also offers PhD programme in various areas of ECE. The Department has received grants from government & semi-government agencies such as MHRD, AICTE, Ministry of information & Technology and ISRO. As a result various laboratories have been established such as VLSI Design Lab, Impact Computing Lab, ASIC Design Lab, Electromagnetic Radiation Research Lab, Cellular Communication System Lab and ACAP Lab. The Department has active collaborations with renowned Institutes within as well as outside India.
The Department of ECE, at MNIT Jaipur has a fine blend of renowned as well as young and dynamic personalities as faculty, and is involved in providing quality education and research in the field. The syllabi of the courses are continuously updated and the laboratories modernized to reflect the rapid changes in technology.
The vision of the Department is to:
- Provide quality education at Under Graduate and Post Graduate levels.
- Increase research activity and become a leading center of excellence.
