Land/Buildings

 The splendid campus of Malaviya  National Institute of Technology is spread over an area of almost 415 acres. Various academic, residential and recreational facilities are housed in a number  of buildings specifically     designed for the purpose.

Management

The large estate is managed and maintained by the Estate Section through an Estate engineer and two junior Estate Engineers (Civil and Electrical). All the developmental activities ans maintenance of buildings and related infrastructure of the campus are carried out under the guidance of Estate Advisor.

Maintenance

Normal problem of mantenance are rectified by a battery of experienced staff, while the basic requirements like electric faults and water suppy related problems are attended to the  clock by the related staff.

Ensures

It is well expected of all the students to ensure that they do not involve in any act of indicipline or misuse of facilities resulting into any damage to the institute  property and extend their fullest cooperation   in keeping the buildings and the campus in proper upkeep.    

The total built up area is divided broadly in three categories

  • Academic Area
  • Administrative area
  • Residential block

New Infrastructure Developed

The following new facilities/alterations were created/(construction work started) during the year.
  • Finalisation of Architect for Campus Master Planning and Architectural Consultancy of Proposed Building Works: Architectural firm has been finalized for master planning of campus and planning & design of proposed buildings through design competition. Firm has already submitted the draft conceptual master plan of the Campus.
  • Planning and design of Boys (1000 capacity) and Girls Hostel (400 capacity) has been started.
  • Installation of Geysers in Hostels: One hundred and five (105) geysers have been installed in the Hostels and Messes in December 2007. This has been done first time since MREC/MNIT has come into existence nearly 45 years ago.
  • Renovation of Toilets of Academic Area: Renovation of 14 toilets is in progress in Academic area. Work is taken up through the CPWD. With this renovation work of toilets will be completed.
  • Vitrified Tiling in Faculty Rooms, Computer Laboratories: Flooring of the computer laboratories and office rooms of the faculty members have been renovated and vitrified tiles have been fixed on floors.
  • Provision of Power Backup through DG Sets: Full power back has been given to Central Computer Centre, Administrative Block, Library, Senate Room, Guest Houses and Girls Hostel through installation of four DG-sets (2 x 100 KVA plus 4 x 25 KVA rating). Work has already been completed except in girls hostel.
  • Refurbishment of Design Centre Conference Rooms and Seminar Hall: Refurbishment of three facilities i.e., seminar hall, conference room and meeting room at design centre is in progress and will be completed soon.
  • Construction of Canteen cum Visitors Room in Girls Hostel: Tendering process has been completed and construction of canteen cum visitor’s room in girls hostel will commence soon.
  • Interlocking Tiling along the Roads: To maintain the cleanliness on the road berms, to facilitate the pedestrian movement and to provide paved parking spaces, interlocking tiling work has further been taken up and the work is in progress. Cost of the work is Rs. 90.00 lakh.
  • Development of Chemistry Lab: Work for the furnishing Chemistry lab in the Department of Chemistry has been awarded to M/s Godrej and the work is in progress.
  • Air-conditioning of Central Library: Air conditioning work of the Central Library is nearly complete.
  • Single Point Entry Work in Academic Area: Work has been awarded after completing the tendering process. The work has already been started.
  • Developments of Tubewells: Existing tube wells have been developed.
  • Installation of Speed Breakers: To reduce the chances of accidents near road crossings, work of installation of additional speed breakers have been taken up. Work has been awarded after completing the tendering process. The work will be completed soon.
  • Class Room Furniture in New Lecture Halls: Work has been awarded after completing the tendering process.
  • Modernization of Class Rooms and Committee Rooms: To modernize the class rooms and committee rooms in academic departments and at central facilities, installation of Interactive Boards (Digital boards), DLP and LCD projectors is in progress.
  • Renovation of class room furniture is planned and will be started soon.
  • Rainwater Harvesting: The work of rainwater harvesting has been taken up at the Institute level and work would be started soon. Earlier work was given to the CPWD.
  • Creation of Additional Facilities in the Hostels: To accommodate the additional students, to be admitted on account of OBC reservation, capacities of hostels have been increased.
