Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering
Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) for UG Programme
01. The program shall develop quality human resources for the need of metallurgical and materials engineering industries for meeting global demands.
02. To facilitate graduates to pursue higher education and get involved in Research and Development.
03. To prepare graduates capable of formulating, analyzing and solving Metallurgical & Materials related problems using Scientific and Mathematical knowledge.
04. Graduates shall be able to undertake planning, designing, development, processing & production activities that include managerial & entrepreneurial skills in the field of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering.
05. To assist the students in the development of their abilities to characterize the materials and assess the structure-property-processing-performance relationship as per the needs.
06. To enable graduates to have innovativeness, cost-effectiveness and safety consciousness for sustainable development.
07. To inculcate analytical and communication skills, leadership qualities and ethical values in graduates and make them aware of societal, legal, health and cultural issues so that they become responsible engineers and citizens.

Program Outcomes (POs) for UG Programme
01. Engineering knowledge: Working knowledge of the fundamentals of chemistry, physics, mathematics, material science, etc. to formulate, analyze, and solve technical and engineering practical problems.
02. The engineer and society: An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, ethical, health and safety considerations, and sustainability.
03. Modern tool usage: An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
04. Innovative technologies: Aptitude for learning new innovative technologies in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering to pursue advanced studies and research.
05. Design and selection of materials: An ability to design and select the proper material for engineering components.
06. Problem analysis: Acquire an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data.
07. Teamwork: Ability to communicate effectively and function in multidisciplinary teams on various issues.
08. Ethics and lifelong learning: Ability to develop knowledge of contemporary technical challenges, with an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and ability to engage in lifelong learning.
09. Leading researcher: Ability to understand global issues and conduct independent research in emerging areas.
10. Communication skills: Communicate effectively both verbal and written, as an individual or as a leader.
11. Environment: Identify the impact of professional engineering solutions in social and environmental contexts.
12. Project management and finance: An ability to understand the impact of engineering on society with an awareness of project management and finance-related issues.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs) for UG Programme
01. Students will learn the fundamentals of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and will build confidence in solving real-life problems in Materials engineering.
02. Engaged in advanced education, research, and development in metallurgical and materials engineering, including materials discovery and/or processing.
03. Aptitude for learning new innovative technologies such as nanotechnology in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering to pursue advanced studies and research.

01. The program shall equip postgraduates to obtain higher education and research and explore their innovativeness.
02. Postgraduates shall be able to formulate, analyze and solve the problems of Metallurgical & Materials industries using their knowledge in analytical tools.
03. To create abilities to characterize the materials and assess the structure-property – processing – performance relationship for research and teaching.
04. The postgraduate shall be able to serve industry, institutes, society at the national and global levels.

Program Outcomes (POs) for PG Programme
01. Design systems or components: Ability to design metallurgical & Materials systems, components or processes to meet desired needs within realistic constraints like service condition, manufacturability, etc.
02. Modern tool usage: Ability to use techniques, skills and modern engineering tools to implement them in engineering practice.
03. Communication and lifelong learning: Ability to communicate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams on various issues & engage in lifelong learning.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs) for PG Programme
01. The Post Graduates will know depth about the principles and practices in Metallurgy & Materials.
02. The Post Graduates will be successfully employed in the core and allied field of Materials & Metallurgical industry and will be actively engaged in learning, understanding, and applying new ideas and technologies.
03. Acquire skills to compile data and write coherent, concise, and accurate technical reports and also deliver effective presentations.
